A Beautiful Experience
When Ron Rubin discovered this small, 10-acre Estate vineyard for Ron Rubin Winery, it was the fulfillment of a 40-year dream. Holding close to his heart that one day he would own a vineyard and winery, finding a place to call his own in the prestigious Green Valley of Russian River Valley fulfilled his lifelong dream.
Location, Fog, and Soil
Ron Rubin Winery is located in the Green Valley of Russian River Valley, the coolest and foggiest part of Russian River Valley. The Estate is only 14 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, with its cool ocean breezes.
Fog defines the Estate’s climate. The Petaluma Wind Gap along the Sonoma Mountain range directs fog into Green Valley, placing our Estate in the coolest, foggiest part of Russian River Valley. This is the first place where the fog rolls in during the late afternoon, and is the last place where it burns off by mid-to-late morning. Because of the Estate’s close proximity to this gap, we typically experience cooler morning temperatures for a longer period of time, than do the northern regions of Russian River Valley.
The Goldridge soil on our Estate is known to be the crème de la crème for growing cool weather Pinot Noir. It is highly regarded for its exceptional ability to grow grapes of superior, delicate qualities. Goldridge soil is sandy, providing good drainage and has low soil fertility. It is highly regarded for having an exceptional, natural chemical balance. When an estate vineyard begins with this kind of balance, it makes winemaking that much more remarkable.
We are delighted that Ron Rubin Winery is ideally located in the Green Valley of Russian River Valley, where we are able to capture its unique terroir with our exceptional wines, offered for your enjoyment.
